Look, I just can’t see how video game cosplay can ever get more authentic than this Assassin’s Creed effort.. Dude’s not just dressed as a pirate, he’s swinging around on an actual old-timey sailing ship.
This is Leon Chiro doing his thing, to the point where he climbed the rigging and, in true Edward Kenway fashion, did a spot of swimming as well.

impressive and also weird and awkward. i dont know. for me if cosplay goes beyond a certain “amateur” level, it becomes awkward, too serious. kind of an uncanny valley effect. looks like the covers of bad fantasy novels.
for me part of the charm of cosplay was always the contrast between cool and elaborate costumes next to everyday objects, nromally dressed people. A Naruto at a burger king, Sephiroth at the bus stop... that does it for me.
